The day after my sixteenth birthday, me and my nine siblings were at home sneaking and watching the new season of Spongebob, instead of doing our chores. De’Asia, my older sister, ordered Bennie, the youngest, to be the look out for my parents. Finally, we heard.
“Mama home!”
We all ran upstairs to pretended to be sleep.
In September of 2007, my mother had found out that she had cancer. So my mother and father came home and went upstairs to their room. My daddy was crying so we all went upstairs and asked, “What’s wrong daddy?"
Then looked over to see my mother crying, I repeated, “Why are you crying?’’
My mama said "Khadijah, Christina, Aaliyah, and Bennie I’m sick."
We asked ‘’ What, you sick?"
Then she told us to give her a hug then she told us she had cancer.
I cried so hard, "This can’t be happening to us! We didn’t do nothing to anybody to deserve this."
My little brother Bennie just cried even louder and I didn’t know what to do, because my big sisters and big brothers were not there. It felt like she was leaving us immediately when she told us. After my mother went through Chemotherapy the cancer had went away in January 2008. It came back in March of 2008. She was in and out of the hospital. She came home July the 4th and was staying at the house with her family. She was doing very well until her mother started coming to our house stressing her out. The month of September is my and her birthdays. She was doing good then my birthday had come and then she past away September 29, 2008 now she in a better place up in heaven. I learned from this is that we should always love mama no matter what happens to her. I will always love her too.
